Erika Godino

Erika Godino (1993), originally from Lamezia Terme, studied Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Reggio Calabria and Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. She has been living in Milan for six years. In 2022, she completed an internship at Luca Pancrazzi’s studio.

The themes present in Erika Godino’s artistic research are emptiness, chaos, the unconscious, and inner calm. For the artist, the canvas represents a kind of film strip on which she transcribes emotions and moods experienced during certain periods of her life. Fragments of her dreamlike journey, explored daily through nature, her surroundings, encounters, human beings, and life’s vicissitudes. Emptiness is understood not as loneliness or abandonment, but as the void each individual should seek within themselves. Color and mark-making propagate across the large support, aiming to create a strong visual impact on the observer. The viewer should feel invaded and immersed, blending and merging with the work, rediscovering their own Self and losing themselves. Erika G. seeks to distort reality through her unconscious: she paints “her” reality. An intimate dialogue that is no longer private, allowing others to enter her world, to contemplate and disorient the human being. She floats in her visionary space.
