Sebastiano Bottaro

He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, the city where he lives, works, and founded SPAZIOMENSA in 2020. His artistic research, strongly influenced by poetry, philosophy, and the sciences, focuses on the themes of being and time in relation to the perception of his expressive possibilities across different languages, with varying forms and intentions. In his works, the mark plays a central role, dominating space and form, and is repeated obsessively as both a symbol and a means to create friction simultaneously. When he works with painting, he expresses the reverberations of memories never lived—an invented memory, a desire without a dream.

Among the exhibitions and performances he has participated in are: Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Roma, Materia Nova (Rome 2021); Spazio Taverna, Finestre Taverna (Rome 2021); Co-atto (Milan 2021); SPAZIOMENSA (Rome 2020); VRE–Virtuality Reality_Videocittà (Rome, 2019); Time to Kill Today, Franktaal Gallery (Rotterdam 2019); Time to Kill Today, NIO Basement (Rotterdam 2019); Comunione con Cesare Pietroiusti, Angelo Mai (Rome, 2018).

Publications include: Roma Nuda, Miniera, Rome 2020; VERA, Quodlibet 2021.
