Michel Oz has been creating pop-inspired paintings since the age of ten. His research focuses on collecting fragments from posters found on the walls of metropolises around the world, which are then mixed and reinterpreted on old canvases and regenerated frames.
With an avant-garde inspiration, his careful observation of the life depicted on the walls of various cities leads the artist to create works with remarkable expressive and emotional impact, connecting heterogeneous urban fragments through a sensory bridge capable of uniting two or more cultures on the same canvas.
In “Rome / Buenos Aires – Metropolitan Fragments,” Michel Oz tells the story of the two cities most representative of his work through a true travel diary, created from meticulous attention to the urban messages of both cities. In this way, old canvases and frames become pages of a densely written diary, while scraps of paper, colors, and layers of “dead matter” are recomposed and superimposed into endless narratives, guiding the viewer to abandon rational patterns and embark on an enigmatic journey with surreal and disorienting effects.
